What is Botox Back to Top

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. These problems can make you look look like you are frowning, angry, tired, sad or generally older.

Originally used by ophthalmologists to treat nervous twitching of the eyelid, Botox has been used for wrinkling since 1982. Botox™ is actually a very tiny amount of botulism that is placed into the wrinkled area to flatten it. This medicine relaxes muscles. Creases and wrinkles are  often caused by hyperactive facial muscles. A common misconception is that the doctor should inject every wrinkle. In fact, Botox™ is used to treat the muscles causing the wrinkles. Relaxing the surrounding muscles takes the "crunch" off and allows the skin to smooth. Originally used for treating nervous twitch of the eyelid muscles, it was discovered that the crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead creases can be flattened dramatically. Neck Bands can sometimes be helped also. Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes

What is the Procedure ? Back to Top

Botox is injected with a very tiny needle. After Botox™ injection, the muscles will relax and the skin will smooth out over about 5 days. The effect usually lasts about six months, and can be repeated when needed. Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic “mini-treatments” today. This procedure can be done in 15mins on a lunch break and requires no anesthesia or recovery. Usually, exercise should be avoided for at least 4 hours to limit the influence of the toxin to the treated areas. The vast majority of patients love this "quick fix" and return for a Botox boost as soon as the wrinkles begin to reappear!

Are there any Side Effects ? Back to Top

There are very few side effects to this procedure. While allergy to any medicine is possible, it is rare with Botox. While a small amount of brow or lid droop is possible, it is unusual and can usually be avoided by not treating the area just above the outer portion of the brow. If it does happen, it goes away by itself.

Botox for Excess Perspiration ? Back to Top
"Sweating is a natural body function necessary to keep our body-temperature at 98.6 degrees," said Dr. Baral. "Some men and women’s bodies work at higher activity levels, far higher than needed to maintain a normal 98.6 temperature, thus producing an excess of perspiration otherwise known as hyperhidrosis. Stressful situations can also induce excess sweating."

While excess perspiration doesn’t pose any health threats, it can wreak havoc on one’s social life. Who wants to shake hands with wet and clammy palms? Who isn’t repulsed when noticing sweat rings under another’s armpits?

Botox™ can be the answer for super-sweaty individuals and recommends treatment prior to any stressful, sweat-inducing circumstances such as interviewing for a new job, getting married or starting college, among others.

Commonly used to treat wrinkles, Botox, a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent derived from Botulinum toxin, has been documented to effectively treat excess perspiration. It works by blocking nerve stimulation of the sweat glands in the areas to be treated.

Treatment consists of applying a topical or local anesthetic to the area to be treated, followed by an injection of Botox. Underarm treatments take approximately a half an hour; hand treatments one hour. Effects last 6-12 months for underarm treatments and 3-12 months for hand treatments

REMEMBER- Botox  is a drug, not a cosmetic.

Any decision regarding Botox™ injections should be made only after consultation with an accredited doctor with proven experience in this specialized field.

Hyaluronic acid Dermal Fillers Back top top

Hyaluronic acid is a natural protein found throughout the body, Hyaluronic acid can provide a great texture, resilience, and appropriate shape to fill in depressions and wrinkles. Since everybody will develop varying levels of wrinkles with age, Hyaluronic acid injections have proven to restore a more youthful and smooth appearance by filling in the lost skin tissue and wrinkles.

It is a natural beauty treatment that replaces Hyaluronic acid in the skin that has deteriorated over time. This futuristic treatment swiftly erases lines, banishes wrinkles, softens scarring and solves the problem of lack of fullness or definition of the lips.

Because Hyaluronic acid breaks down naturally in the body, Hyaluronic acid injections are not permanent. The effects of Hyaluronic acid injections can vary depending on the type of injection filler material used.

Patients may notice slight throbbing or stinging in the treatment area for a few hours after the injections have been given. Redness at the injection site will disappear after 24 hours, and some temporary swelling or bruising may occur. If the swelling or redness continues for more than a few days, a physician should be contacted immediately.

Hyaluronic
acid injections are recommended every three to six months depending on how quickly the body absorbs the Hyaluronic acid.

Paris Lip Back top top

As the lips contain few sebaceous glands always use a softening and moisturising balm. Choose your lip product carefully, look for a moisturising formula like fillderma lips or try a little Instant Therapy to enhance the lips. If your lips are uneven or simply lacking in fullness, Hyaluronic acid can give you the look you want.

The Paris Lip technique uses implants that have been used for over ten years by more than half a million women and men to smooth out facial lines between the brows and around the eyes, nose and mouth. The procedure is quick and simple and most of our clients are out of the clinic in about half an hour.
