Salicylic acid is a Beta
hydroxy acid (BHA) This occurs in nature in sweet birch and in
wintergreen leaves, a form of it was originally discovered by
American Indians. It is a highly effective peeling agent and an
excellent pore cleanser with anti-wrinkle and anti-acne
properties.
Aspirin like qualities
Salicylic acid is a compound closely related to aspirin
(acetylsalicylic acid), and it retains its aspirin-like
anti-Inflammatory properties, therefore Salicylic Acid blends
powerful skin exfoliation with skin soothing actions.
Salicylic acid works by softening
keratin, a protein that forms part of the skin structure.
This helps to loosen dry scaly skin making it easier to remove.
